MPHS Chorus & Chorale Auditions 2010
Auditions for the Mount Pleasant High School Choral Program will begin soon. The audition is two part - a written test and a vocal audition that includes sight-reading. Incoming 9th graders may choose to sing something from their current choral repertoire (their part) if they wish to audition just for Chorus. If an incoming 9th grader wishes to be considered for Chorale they MUST audition on this past years All-State Jr Choir solo audition piece. Current Chorus members and Mount Pleasant High School students who are interested in auditioning for Concert Choir should download Simple Gifts and audition on that. Those students who are currently in the program or current 9th - 11th grade students and wish to audition for Chorale must audition on Sebben, crudele. You may sing it in either Italian or English, no penalty for singing it in English, but extra points can be awarded for those singing it correctly in Italian. A student must score at least 150 of the combined written and vocal test to be eligible for a choral group. Chorale will consist of the top (?) soprano's, top (?) alto's, top (?) tenors and top (?) basses from those students auditioning for Chorale. If one auditions with the Chorale audition piece, but does not score high enough to be placed in Chorale - but high enough to make the Choral Program - they will be placed in Concert Choir. The Accompaniment only version (Chorale) will be used at the actual audition.

If you are currently in High School and are auditioning for the Choral Program but DO NOT wish to be considered for Chorale - download the correct version of "Simple Gifts" below. For the actual audition you will be given the first note - and you will sing the piece acapella.
